WALKATHON
The 'Walkathon'
is an off-campus event conducted annually as part
of MPBIM's management fest - PARADIGM. It is an
event where students from top B-schools, associate
corporates and individuals from across the city
walk to raise funds for charity. During the years,
the event has been associated with NGOs such as:
- The Spastics Society of
Karnataka (2004),
- The Freedom Foundation
(2004),
- Mathru Blind School (2005),
- Rakum Blind School (2005),
- KPAMRC, Bangalore (2006),
- Opportunity School, Kodagu
(2006),
- MathruShree Manovikasa
Kendra (2008),
- Gandhi Old Age Home (2008),
- Sri Krishna Anatha Shishu
Nivas Orphanage (2009)
The proceeds
of the event supplement the infrastructure and
improve the education facilities, thereby providing
these institutions with much-needed aid.
This year, we
at MPBIM are walking for the empowerment to education
for these children, who are the bright future
of our country.
Madhava Nele
and Nele Nivedita are two rehabilitation centres
which have been chosen for this year’s walkathon.
These centres provide required education, cultural
atmosphere to these children aiming to make them
good citizens in terms of physical, mental health
and intellectual capabilities. Madhava nele is
situated in Shimoga , and Vikasa trust under the
guidance of Hindu Seva Prathishthana runs this
centre. Nele nivedita is situated in Bangalore,
provides similar care, but it especially looks
after girls.
Over the past
few years, support from corporates has been forthcoming.
Organised retailers and Malls have also pitched
in and helped make the event a success. MPBIM
thanks these organizations for their support.
